SX-E 2 2024 Media

Model Description

Charged up and ready to hit the track, the all-new 2024 KTM SX-E 2 powers into the KTM electric-powered mini line-up with one clear objective – bridging the gap. Designed to slot in between the KTM SX-E 1.20 stability cycle and the KTM SX-E 3 electric racer, it provides the ideal platform for the youngest riders to take the next step up.

GRAPHICS
Using the full-sized KTM SX range as a guideline, the 2024 KTM SX E-2 features modern, striking graphics in typical “big bike” fashion. The graphics are also applied using an in-mold process, ensuring the best durability and quality for many years of offroad action.

CHASSIS
Built tough to last, the KTM SX-E 2 chassis boasts an impressive list of construction materials. The upper triple-clamp, handlebar clamps, footrest carrier, and brake components are made of high-end forged aluminum alloys, while the lower triple clamps and the shaft are crafted from forged chromoly steel. The swingarm and skid plate complete the list, made from HPDC aluminum alloy.

FRAME
Built around a center tube Aluminum Extrusion Frame, the 2024 KTM SX-E 2 features a new design concept that reduces the number of components needed, to ensure fewer connections for maximum durability and chassis rigidity. It’s constructed from High-End Aluminum alloy, which also ensures it’s free from construction, and strikes the perfect balance between strength and safety. The subframe is made from a high-quality glass-fiber reinforced, impact-resistant plastic composite for low weight and shock absorption. Both are painted with a black KTL coating.

SUSPENSION
Ready to tackle the most challenging track conditions, the KTM SX-E 2 boasts a non-adjustable, WP regular Hydraulic Fork with 90mm travel up front and a preload-adjustable 34 mm Hydraulic-mono-shock with separation piston on the rear with 70mm of travel. This is mounted to a HPDC Aluminium swingarm, the 34mm Hydraulic monoshock is matched perfectly to the front forks for exceptional balance and damping characteristics.

WHEELS AND TIRES
10″ wheels on the front and back ensure planted handling on all terrain types. Lightweight, black powder-coated aluminum HPDC rims front and rear provide trouble-free maintenance, while a set of exceptionally well-balanced motocross tires from KENDA provide ample grip.

LOW SEAT HEIGHT
Young riders find their feet easily thanks to a 2-level adjustable seat height. In standard configuration, the seat height is 470mm but can easily be increased to 500mm by lifting the bodywork and seat unit and mounting the rear shock in an alternative position. This, along with the ability to lower the front fork in the triple clamp and adjust the heights of the foot-peg carrier, means the rider can grow with the KTM SX-E 2.

BRAKES
A set of radial, hydraulic 140mm disk brakes on the front and rear ensure ample stopping power when the going gets too fast. Also, the hand levers are adjustable to fit smaller hand sizes, with the brake pads being compatible with high-end market bicycle brake pads for easy availability.

CONTROLS
The black anodized, aluminum alloy handlebars feature a reduced diameter grip area for the perfect ergonomic grip for little hands. The width and bend were also specifically developed for easy steering while ensuring a firm grip and control of the KTM SX-E 2. The ODI lock-on handgrips also feature a slim diameter to further improve control and feel through the bars.

LIGHT WEIGHT
Weighing in at 27 kg, the KTM SX-E 2 feels like a real, bigger motorcycle, while still providing easy handling. The combination of weight and agility provides a planted, more secure feeling as the speed builds, and is better suited to bigger, harder bumps. Moreso, at less than 30 kg, the KTM SX E-2 is easily transported to and from riding locations.

MOTOR AND POWER
Providing the forward drive for the KTM SX-E 2 is a lightweight, maintenance-free 1,8 kW HUB Motor which delivers a maximum of 50 Nm. The “HUB-Motor-Concept” is void of additional parts like chains or sprockets, helping to keep the weight low and providing extra safety in the event of a crash. The controller is also integrated within the motor packaging, guaranteeing a spontaneous, but controllable power delivery.

CHARGER
An external charger supplying up to 500 W can be connected to any 110- or 230-Volt socket and plugs directly into the battery pack for easy charging. Charging time from 0 – 80% take approximately 35 minutes, with a full 100% charge achieved in less than 60 minutes.

SAFETY

Making sure your little ripper is safe is a top priority. For that reason, the KTM SX E-2 is fitted with a roll-over sensor that cuts power in the event of a crash or tip-over. A wrist lanyard key also provides a direct connection between the riders and the kill switch, which stops the motor in the event of an uncontrollable riding scenario.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL THROTTLE
As an added safety feature to ensure the KTM SX-E 2 doesn’t pull away without warning, the electric motor is activated by rolling the throttle forward. Once on, a haptic ‘vibration’ is sent through the grip, indicating to the rider that the bike is ready to go. This and an illuminated multifunctional display located next to the throttle makes keeping an eye on selected ride modes and battery life a breeze, with different colors indicating which ride mode is selected and what level the battery is at.

QUICK CHANGE LITHIUM-ION BATTERY
Powering the KTM SX E-2 comes courtesy of a 9.4 Ah, Lithium-ion power-tool-type battery with proven longevity and robustness, boasting 1500 charging cycles and up to 100 minutes of riding time. However, the real perk comes with the ease of swapping the battery with one easy movement, providing advantages like anti-ride protection, extended ride time with multiple batteries, and easy battery replacement in case of damage. Moreso, all units are rated IP65 and perfectly protected from wet conditions.
